Alone by Edgar Allan Poe

Edgar Allan Poe was born in 1809, and died in 1849. The actual cause of death is unknown. His obituary in the Baltimore Clipper said that he had died of "congestion of the brain." One theory is that he died from Rabies, and another is that he died of an overdose. Alone, by Edgar Allan Poe was written in 1830. When interpreting this poem, one would make an analysis about a part of the writer’s life and how he felt about an aspect of his own life. Many of Poe’s poetry is about personal experiences. There is not a hidden and a surface meaning when reading this poem. In the first verse of the poem it is clearly written that Poe has felt different from everyone else since his childhood. He does not see life as others did at that time. Poe seemed to feel an abundance of sadness to the point where even happiness was not an emotion to him, merely a word.
