Christians believe that there is one god, and that He created the universe and continues to care for it. The followers of Jesus did not accept His death as His end. Jesus followers were certain that Jesus came back from the dead. They believed that He later rose to heaven. The first Christians were Jews. The many disagreements between the two groups in ancient times caused a breakup of the religion. Soon many non-Jews joined the new religion called Christianity.
