At a time when presidents lie, steal, and do anything else morally wrong, Harrison Ford sets the standard for what a president should be in one of this decade’s most entertaining films. Director Wolfgang Petersen has given audience members a pro-American thriller. Air Force One thrives because it has a riveting plot, tremendous acting, and superior special effects.
The movie starts with a U.S. led commando raid in Kazakhstan that captures a renegade Russian leader, General Radek (Jurgen Prochnow). James Marshall (Harrison Ford), the President of the U.S., declares that the U.S. will no longer tolerate with any terrorist group. No sooner does he make that statement then a group of Radek supporters, led by Ivan Korshunov (Gary Oldman) and assisted by secret service agent Gibbs (Xander Berkeley), hijack Air Force One.
