Aeneas Vs Odysseus:

There are endless theories of when and where Homer wrote his epic poems, the Iliad and the Odyssey. However, it is assumed by many that he lived during the Trojan War, perhaps in an Ionic settlement such as Chios or Smyrna. It is also thought that he may have been a court storyteller, like Demodocus in the Odyssey and unfortunately every other aspect of his life is unknown. It should be appreciated that even the things previously mentioned are only popular opinions. The truth is that there isn't even enough conclusive evidence to posit that Homer was definitely male, many opinions say that in fact homer was female, and some feel his work was a collaboration of many writers. One of, if not, the only ways we can determine anything we claim to have an opinion on is simply by inferring knowledge, implied inclinations and meaning from his pieces of work. What we do know as fact, however, is that he was a large influence in Virgils work, The Aeneid.
