‘Globalization is not creating one world. It is producing benefits for some sections of the world’s population, while having a very negative impact on others.’

People around the globe are more connected to each other than ever before. Information and money flow more quickly than ever. Goods and services produced in one part of the world are increasingly available in all parts of the world (Giddens 2001). International travel is much more frequent then before; given me as a student the opportunity to study in Australia is also a result of the growing phenomenon of globalization. However, as a worldwide phenomenon globalization has both good and bad sides. It is much like fire. Fire itself is neither good nor bad. Used properly, it can cook food, sterilize equipment, form iron, and heat our homes. Used carelessly, fire can destroy lives, towns and forests in an instant. Any way, this is an interesting and in many ways a very complex issue, that can be discussed over and over again.
