“A man’s got to do what a man’s got to do”Is that Anderson’s moral message in Triage?

Yes! It is the message that Anderson is trying to project trough the novel “Triage”. It is the message that one’s self-preservation justifies whatever you need to do to survive. Also preservation of the wider community may justify unorthodox actions. Well at least it should and Anderson’s certainly believes that-“ own up and then go on. That’s all you can do”. He believes that in the situations that Marks, Joaquin and Talzani were in are justifiable.

Mark had a passion for his photography and was able to divorce himself from the reality to some degree and to pursuer a scene, events, places even other photographer’s wouldn’t go. He felt that it was something he had to do. This is evident by him going into the “contrasted zone” with resulting with Colin’s death and his injuries.
