1984

1984, by George Orwell, conveys the dangers of a government ruling a society by a dictatorship, and the endeavors the protagonist must execute to find the truth behind the government’s intentions. The main conflict in the novel is, Winston Smith and the government in Oceania. Winston Smith is a citizen living in a nation ruled by governing party’s, and also the face of the government called “Big Brother.” The party’s method of controlling scariest calender the citizens includes their use of propaganda. Their slogans are posted everywhere and are comprised of statements such as, “Big Brother is Watching You.” The party invades the citizen’s private lives, which is evident in their methods of spying, such as monitoring citizens through 2-way televisions and with “thought police”.
