Zodiac: Beginning of an Era

“This is the Zodiac speaking.” That has become one of the most recognized lines in the crime world. It has been mimicked in movies, by other killers, in TV shows, and in all forms of media. This one line is well known especially by my favorite audience, the people of San Francisco and the SFPD. They know it so well because that is how I became known to them, as the Zodiac killer. I opened almost all of my twenty-one letters with this line; letters that were sent to the SFPD, and the newspapers of San Francisco. I haunted the streets of San Francisco and the Bay Area from about 1968 to 1974. I had so much fun back then; everything went just the way I planned. Those pigs didn’t know what to do!
And they still don’t, you know what they say about me now? They say that I am “probably the prototype for the modern serial killer.” (Philpin &Sierra 3) If that is true then the pigs are going to have a few problems. I mean they never caught me, so if I’m the prototype ...
