Youth and the Drug Experience

I think that for the young people of today, that alcohol and drugs are almost seen as a normal experience. I don’t have a friend or family member over the age of eighteen who has not tried alcohol and most of them have tried marijuana. When entering this program, I felt that this was just another way for our courts to make money and for us, the youth offenders, to make us earn our right to drive. Not that I don’t think it’s right to make us work, but just that I feel in this instance, the penalty exceeds the crime. I personally don’t feel I drink or use too much. If I was using/drinking the amount I do now, when I am 30 or 40 or even older, then I would be concerned. But right now I am in college and experimenting, but keeping it in moderation. Moderation is the key to keeping in control and being able to maintain a clear mind/head.
