In the eighteenth century our forefathers, the pilgrims, lived a very different lifestyle then what we know today. Their homes and household furnishings are what we call antiques these days. However, the way they spent their leisure time and the games they played were not so different then today.
The popular style of housing in the eighteenth century was called Gregorian architecture. This style had classical symmetry of floor plans and façade compositions. A central hall with one or two rooms was common. Instead of the chimney being on the side of the roof like earlier styles, it was placed in the central part. Windows were placed symmetrically throughout the house. The roofs were either gambrel style or hipped style. Wood and brick were the common material used to make the houses.
