Reassessing the Neolithic Era


In 1985, Kihachiro Aratake, owner of a local diving tour company, was looking for a new place to take his tour diving groups. He was searching around the treacherous currents close to the rock cliffs of Yonaguni Island, a small island at the end of the Ryuku island chain. During his search he discovered an under water megalith monument that was over 300 feet long and approximately seventy feet high. It appeared to be man made with vertical walls and further diving investigation revealed symmetrical and angular channels and steps.
Professional geologists and scientists date this structure to be at least ten to twelve thousand years old. This would put the monument at a time in earth history before the melting of the last ice age. If this dating is correct, this would also put the monument above sea level.
