Wuthering Heights Essay

Emile Bronte organizes her novel by arranging its elements of characters, places, and themes into pairs. The two houses, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, represent opposing worlds and values. She is able to symbolically distinguish the two houses with description composed of vivid details.
Thrushcross Grange was always described as a magnificent place by every interpretation. The first glimpse of Thrushcross Grange is Nelly's description, "I admired the shining kitchen utensils, the polished clock, decked in holly, the silver mugs ranged on a tray ready to be filled with mulled ale for supper; and above all, the speckless purity of my particular care--the scoured and well-swept floor."
