Writing Through Time

Writing is one of the few subjects that have the ability to take you through an infinite number of different situations, possibilities, emotions, and ideas. It has the unique power of being able to transport you through your thoughts, one by one as they accumulate onto what was once a blank sheet of paper. Writing is my time machine that allows me to travel through my past and my memories, through the present, and into my future.
The past is not only my history, but also the history of my family and ancestors. I can remember my great grandfather rather well. I was about five or six years old when my family lived in West Virginia, right beside his huge brick house that always seemed to tower hundreds of feet over me. I can remember that he had an enormous backyard and that he would always let me go out and feed the squirrels that would frolic in his overgrown trees.
