Feel safe at work? You shouldn’t. Every year in Human Resource Management (HRM), thousand of injuries occur causing untold pain and suffering. A Canadian research group announced that Canadian workers are experiencing a higher probability of being injured and or even killed on the job compared to those in many other countries. The research also examined at workplace injury frequency with Canada claiming to be the fourth highest rate among the 16 countries studied (Worker’s Health & Safety Centre). There are around a million workplace injuries a year in Canada – a compensable injury occurs every seven seconds of each working day. Deaths from workplace injury average nearly a thousand a year. In Canada, one worker is killed every two hours of each working day. Deaths from workplace diseases go largely unrecorded and uncompensated—they likely exceed deaths from workplace injuries
