LESSON 3 SUMMARY

• Use the Formatting toolbar to apply basic character formatting (for example, bold , italic , and underline, ) to selected contiguous text and noncontiguous text (text that is not adjacent).

• Use keyboard shortcuts to apply and remove basic character formatting. See the Command Summary.

• A font is a type design applied to an entire set of characters, including all letters of the alphabet, numerals, punctuation marks, and other keyboard symbols.

• A font can be serif (with decorative lines) or sans serif (with no decorative lines). Fonts are available in a variety of sizes, which are measured in points.

• Use the Formatting toolbar to change fonts and font sizes.

• Use keyboard shortcuts to change font sizes: Ctrl + Shift + > increases text by one font size and Ctrl + Shift + < decreases text by one font size.
