Women in Society

Unfortunately, very few people think seriously about women. The position of women in society has changed dramatically over the years. Women were first seen as property no matter what color, or race they were. As the years went by, women started to slowly make progress and they started to break the social acceptance that women were “good just for the kitchen” in society, but they were still were still devalued. Women were given the opportunity to go to school and get an education. They were also allowed to vote in the 1920’s. This was a major accomplishment for all women. As far as employment goes, the “majority of the women are employed, and now number close to half of those in the workplace.” (Andersen, p. 1). Most women have moved upward to good paying, professional positions.
