In the play Othello, the theme of reputation is very important as this is what makes the play tragic. Reputation is important as it gives the audience an insight th the characters, and also how some characters are manipulated by others.
The characters are so caught up in defending their reputation, that they lose their power of reason, but it is the most important to Iago and Cassio.
