In this write up I am going to outline both the history and the use of Operating systems.


WINDOWS HISTORY

Microsoft started work on the first of the Windows Operating Systems in 1981, under the name Interface Manger. Within a year they had already developed it further by changing from what was known as Multiplan and Word-like menus, to drop down menus and dialogs.
In 1983 they announced for the first time that they had an operating system known as Windows. Windows promised an easy-to-use graphical interface, device-independent graphics and multitasking support, but with bugs still in the system, it took another two years for Windows1.0 to actually go on sale.

By 1987 Microsoft had developed Windows 2.0 . This was a big improvement on the first version. With the addition of icons and overlapping windows, Windows paved the way for development of applications like Excel and Word.
