William the Conqueror

William the Conqueror was born in 1027. His parents were Robert I, Duke of Normandy and Herleva of Falasia. His wife’s name was Mathilda. Mathilda was the daughter of Count Baldwin of Flanders.
William lived with his mother in Falaise until his father's death in 1035, when he became he duke. For 12 years, William and his noblemen and guardians ruled Normandy. Until 1047, Normandy went though a lot. Lot of killings and assassinations took place.
Then, William with the help of France's King Henry I, he made a place for himself in the eastern Norman regions. He spent the next several years, trying to make his image and an impact through marriage, diplomacy, war, etc. By 1066, Normandy has gained good enough independence because of William's feudal lord and Henry I of France.
William then looked for other opportunity of invasion in England. Edward the Confessor tried to gain support from Normans in while fighting with his father-in-law, Earl Godwin. He promised the throne to Willia...
