William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare was an English dramatist and poet, considered the greatest of all playwrights. No other writers plays have been produced so many times or so widly in so many countries. Shakespeare understood people like as few other artists have.
William was born at Stratford-upon-Avon on April the 23rd 1564. His father John Shakespeare was a glover and leather merchant, his mother Mary Arden was a land heiress. He was the third of eight children, three of whom died in childhood. Shakespeare went to grammar school in Stratford but he did not continue his education to university. He had a knowledge of Latin and classical Greek.
In 1582 when Shakespeare was 18 he married Anne Hathaway who was 26 and pregnant. They had three children First Susanna then twins Hamnet and Judith Hamlet died when he was 11.
