Women’s treatment:
Submissive female of the patriarchal feudal system. She is compliant and trusting of the authority of her elders. Rebellion for women is not an option.
Subservience of her position. She is first accepting of the rule of unquestioning obedience. Then assumes much of authority and responsibility once monsieur guerre dies even though uncle Pierre is the figurehead. She starts showing (through this unexpected period of authority) independence not typical of a woman in the era.
Women were classed as irrational.
