Wife of Bath Paper.

People have often pondered the ultimate question of what women truly desire. Is it wealth, sexually satisfaction, or is it supreme authority over another? In Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales, the author uses the “The Wife of Bath Prologue and Tale” to solve this puzzling question. The Wife of Bath is seen as an intelligent woman of great social status and wealth. Because she is smart, she knows how to benefit from her beauty and eloquence. She is described as “bold and handsome and ruddy…[a] worthy woman all her life”(Chaucer23). Although she is seen as wholesome, some of her views are in direct conflict of what is expected of woman at that age. She realizes that as a maturing women, she must remain resilient and must search for other ways to attract her next husband. But what traits will she look for in a husband?
