Why philosophy?

Throughout history, many philosophers have wondered about the reason of earth’s roundness, the moon’s shape, the sun rising and the sunset or maybe just the reason of being here on earth. Most of them have made their own hypothesis and even created theories.
Nowadays there are few people that philosophize; there is no need. We have everything solved, if we wonder about the sun’s size we look up in the encyclopedia or check out our 4th grade geography book.
