why leave bristol

Why leave Bristol they asked? Why leave at all? The question was not why leave, it was why not leave. I guess we all have our reasons and beliefs, most of which are based on circumstance. In my young life I had my own reasons, reasons in my opinion that were all good enough to leave and head for a new homeā€¦.
The year was 1710 and I remember as if it were yesterday. I will never forget the feelings of excitement I had running through my heart the day I said goodbye to my home just out side of Bristol. I say excitement, but I had other feelings as well. These were feelings of nervousness and fear.
I was a young boy in my twenties. My life had taken a drastic turn. My mother had passed away in January from small pox, a disease that was spreading in my town like wildfire and killing without a conscience.
