Why drugs should be prohibited in sport

The argument that performance enhancing substances should be prohibited in sport can be observed from either a moral or physical standpoint. The view from the former is perhaps the most obvious and public motive to eradicate drugs from sport: to create a “level playing field” amongst the competitors. However, scientific test results have proven that there are far more serious consequences to the frequency of drugs in sport than mere ethical boundaries.

Sport-related drugs have shown to create or evoke premature long term health hindrances, often bringing forth an early death. In an industry dominated by health, influencing the world’s youth and promoting physical well-being, the usage of such health-risking substances in sport is not at all appropriate.
