Why do you Think the Drinking Age Should be Lowered?

Tragedies, unfortunately occur every day linked to under age drinking and driving accidents. For instance, “17,000 people die each year from alcohol-related traffic accidents” according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this however, is not even including the approximately one million people injured in such accidents annually ( “Issues” 1). Programs such as (MADD), Mothers Against Drunk Driving and (SADD), Students Against Drunk Driving have significantly changed the death rate lowering it by 29%, as a result making the consumer more aware of the affects of alcohol.
The first step in a solution towards fatality rates of minors due to under age drinking is awareness of the affects of alcohol. Alcohol is a powerful depressant/drug, as a result interfering with the brains capacity to concentrate and can impair a person’s ability to think clearly and with justification. Test done b...
