Why do women go on-line for CMC? Why would their reasons be different from those of men?

People tend to say that women have fallen behind when looking at their computer literacy and use. In general this seems very likely but when looking on one particular aspect, the CMC (Computer Mediated Communication) some people argue that women are the heavier users of the two genders.
