Why do they Write?

I’m sure all of us wish we were writers some time or another. We all write but for a passionate few can call it their life. Two authors that have given some enlightenment into a writers mind are George Orwell and Joan Didion in their essays Why I Write. Yes, both essays have the same name, although Didion did take the title from Orwell (self confessed in the first line). Lets face it folks the original is always better than the sequel. What a tough subject to grab, talking about oneself and the motivation behind. Both authors did so in a different but in an essentially honest manner. Each author displays different word games and the importance of word placement verses meaning. Imagery and personal memories are strung throughout both essays. It was easier to find yourself almost lost Orwell’s work, but I will give credit where credit is due and these writers substantial amount of it.
