I believe that this short story reflected the thoughts of many people around the world. In this story, the man feels discontent, because he believes that he should live among his equals. Many ignorant people around the world, who believe that they are better than others because of material possessions like money, also feel that they should be associating only with people at their “level”. This way of thinking (that you are better than others) is what made the man quest out for equals, and is what creates partitions between societies in the world, and creates hatred towards one another.
