What Is Myth?
For decades scholars have debated the question: “how do we define myth?” and “what is myth.” There have been many conclusions; most explanations are all different and they are all generally all accepted as possibilities to answer the questions posed. I believe that myth is best described by Robert A. Georges: “…myth retained its basic meaning as a narrative, well known among members of a particular society or a group or groups within that society, which explained the origins of natural and social phenomena and the interrelationships among man, his deities and his universe.” This means that myth was created to explain the origins of the world as well as why natural phenomena happen.
