what is Locke account of property and how it is successful.

In his Second Treatise of government, Locke develops the concept of property ; accordingly, he argues that life, liberty and estate are legitimate individuals’ rights. He discusses in larger details the essence of private property. One can define private property as rights of use, disposal and access. Thus, we will look at what is Locke’s account of property on the one hand, and determine how it is successful on the other hand.

In my first part, I will deal with Locke’s account of property.
At first, Locke argues that the world is a gift from God, given as a the common property to all mankind (§25). Through this statement, Locke opposes his view to the one of Filmer, who claims that the world is a gift of God to Adam and his heirs in succession . As a consequence, while Filmer states that the world is the private property of the kings, and thus gives a well-founded justification for absolute monarchy, Locke claims that the world is the property of everyone, and by this fact...
