What is Energy and what are cells?

Energy is the capacity to do work. Energy cannot be created or destroyed because the amount of energy in the universe remains constant. It can be converted from one for to another. Energy has a one-way flow, which moves from forms with a higher quality of energy to those with a lower quality.
When the sun shines down on plants, energy is captured and temporarily stored as a chemical bond energy of ATP. The energy that is absorbed release a certain amount of electrons, which enter the electron transport system. Water molecules split forming ATP and NADPH. In this process oxygen is released.
