What does Macbeth have to say to us?

Studying a classic piece of literature such as Macbeth can relate to a lot things in today¡¦s time. One of the main themes in the story is the idea of ¡§fair is foul and foul is fair¡¨ (act I scene 1 line 11). This statement is a paradox, also a prophecy. The temptation of evil and people¡¦s obsession with power and Kingship still exist in today¡¦s world.

¡§Fair is foul, and foul is fair¡¨ (act I scene 1 line 11) refers that often times in life, one thing seems like another, or how things will change throughout the story. This is a contradiction referring to the comparison between good and evil. The phase means the good is sometimes mistaken as the evil while the evil is known as the good. In this case, the characters of the play had changed during the story. For example, Lady Macbeth changed from a woman with lots of feminine characteristics to one who was as bitter and cold hearted as a man, then after Duncan¡¦s murder, she was back to where she started...
