The short story Ratno Profiterstvo by Stjepan Mataušiæ cannot be fully understood without knowing the cultural and social background of war affected Croatia between the years 1991-1995. It is likely possible that the storys underlying ironic and humorous undertone will never reach its effect on a non native-croatian speaker.
