Violence and Music


There is no question that the things that we are exposed to have some effect on us, one way or another. It is, however, absurd to blame a type or genre of music for the actions that people make. Not only is it absurd but it is also very easy. If someone commits a violent crime and was known to listen to violent music, then of corse that is what makes them violent, right? The music would be the easiest one to blame for the person's actions, above anything else. If you want to look at young kids who go out and commit violent crimes, best to look at the home life and parental figures that are present in their environment. Not the songs they listen to. This can easily be related to the saying "guns don't kill people, people kill people." Or you can say "violent music doesn't make people commit violent acts, violent people commit violent acts."
