VIDEOGAMES: FRIEND OR FOE


Since the day my two sons could talk they have been playing videogames. Over the years there have been many theories on the effects long hours of videogame playing is having on our children. In 2000 Lester Haines a writer for The Register, said, “Not content with wasting the health service’s time by jamming their heads into saucepans and falling out of trees, kids have found a new way of damaging themselves (with videogames)- and all in the safety of their own homes. With that, I like many other parents, became very concerned that allowing my kids to participate in this activity may have some serious long term effects on their little brains. So for some time, I put an end to the videogames all together.
