Each student will be required to experience withdrawal. This may be accomplished by abstaining from a regularly practiced behavior, regularly consumed substance, etc. acceptable responses include abstinence from: chocolate, milk, sugar, salt, food, etc. After experiencing withdrawal, the student is required to write a description of the experience. Apply this exercise (in writing) to the challenges an addict must experience and why addiction poses such a perplexing problem.



I liked this assignment a lot. It reminded me of an experiment we did in my fourth-grade class. Each student was required to wear a blindfold every day for one hour. We did this every day for one week. Our teacher told us that this experiment was to help us understand-at least in part-what it was like to be blind.
