Utopia

“A Perfect Society: Fact or Fiction?”



Fact or fiction? More’s idea of “Utopias” or so called “perfect societies” were created to ensure the well being of all people associated. This statement is most definitely false in every aspect. Many people have tried to create perfect societies, but every person has needs, wants, and goals; it’s human nature. How can there possibly be a world without greed, luxuries, and crime? Thomas More’s idea of a perfect society in “Utopia” has noble intentions, but there ultimately is no such thing as a perfect society.
Utopians believe in getting pleasure from natural things of the earth, mind, body, and spirit. “Utopia is quite convinced that they’ve got nothing to do with real pleasure, because there’s nothing naturally enjoyable about them”(More p.471).
