On December 25th 2002, New Delhi India opened its second metro system, the first in this city. Of the 155 miles envisioned for the system only 5 miles are in place so far. This piece of the metro system, took 4 years and 15,000 workers to construct. By 2005, 38 miles are expected to be finished and operational. The entire system is to be completed by 2021. This system was built with the consulting support of Japan, South Korea, and the United States, at a cost of $2 billion for the first 38 miles.
