Up From Slavery

Although that this book wasn’t my favorite to read of the so far I have to say that it is somewhat interesting, not in the way it presents the information but some of the information given. Booker T. Washington came to accomplish a tremendous amount of his goals dodging the obstacles presented in his lifetime. Although I am not completely knowledgeable about black abolitionists at that time I would have to say that Washington was probably the leading or one of the leading blacks making significant strides in favor of positive reconstruction of the ex-slaves’ economic situation. Many blacks could try to obtain somewhat of respect from whites and other blacks through their economic stance in the world around them, namely their education. Contradicting that was the abolitionist's strategy to gain respect by flagrantly demanding their want for equal rights and their opinions.
