unknown solid

Abstract:
The purpose of this experiment was to learn the identity of an unknown solid through the molecular weight and the pKa. The molecular weight was found using the indicator bromthyml blue and the technique of titrating until a color change was reached. The molecular weight was determined to be 222.0 grams per mole, which gives us a percentage error of 28.19 %. The pKa was determined using the technique of titration using a pH meter. The pKa was determined to be 3.20, which gives us a percentage error of .84 %. Based on these two values for molecular weight and pKa we were able to determine that the unknown solid was actually Sulfanilic Acid.
