Two Very Different Versions of the Same Story

Would you rather watch an entertaining and romantic movie or read an accurate war poem? The movie Helen of Troy and the epic poem called The Iliad, written by Homer, are supposed to be the same story about the Trojan War, but are different in several obvious ways. The three main differences in the poem and the movie were the character personalities, deaths of the characters and their murderers, and lastly the points of view.
First, the characters’ personalities differ in the movie from the poem. In fact, Paris seemed like a brave character in the movie, but in the poem he seemed a little cowardly and boasted often. Furthermore, in the poem Paris is constantly in need of being saved because his boasting habits would get him into fights where he would be overmatched, like the match with Menelaus.
