Two Religious Views

“The Self who is free from evil, free from old age, free from death, free from grief, free from hunger, free from thirst, whose desire is the Real, whose intention is the Real- he should be sought after, he should be desired to be comprehended.” (Chandogya Upanisad, SIT p.33) The Upanishadic conception of the Self is everyone does not understand it. One must get to the point where one can be in touch with your Atman. Many people have desired the Self but you must work and study to comprehend it.
It is a very long journey for one to fully obtain and understand the Self. This is evident by the story of Indra from the gods and Virochana from the demons. The two came to Prajapati as students desiring the Self. Both lived under Prajapati for thirty-two years serving him as students.
