Does Television violence play a major role in aggressive behavior? Because television is now the most popular form of mass media, this question presents a skeptical out look on the types of violent shows that are shown today in our homes and on the movie screens. Many scholars believe that television feeds the malignant impulses of adolescents. If this belief is true, then according to them “television plays only a minor role in deviant behavior because it merely introduces behavior already in children’s repertoire” (Hartnagel, Teevan, Mc Intyr). Violence on television does have an indirect effect on deviant or aggressive behavior. Many young children view actors as role models. When children view their favorite actor on T.V. participating in violent acts it may produce some aggressive behavior in the child. Television is for educational and entertainment purposes only.
