SELF-SEEKING FRIENDSHIP
Although neither Turkey nor United States are quite old countries, they both have had a big role on every branch and every sector in the world. And this situation leads to a necessity of deep relations between them. Thank God, Turkish-American relations have been good due to Turkey’s geopolitical position, their deep history and having common enemies and common friends.
Of course there are some exceptions to prove that the relationship isn’t so well. For example, USA warned Turkey not to use the weapons supplied by the United States during the Cyprus crisis if they were to intervene in Cyprus. Or, there have been situations that may seem to be that US only wants to use Turkey for its own benefits, but definitely this isn’t the case.
