Turkey’s Justice and Development Party:A quest for the EU

If we take for granted the fact that it seems that in international politics, unlike on law, one is guilty until proven differently, the task I chose to present in this term paper becomes extremely difficult. I intend to defend and acquit Turkey’s new government with the unfair charges of anti democratic and “Islamic oriented” that some western leaders and have deposited on it. Furthermore, passing that difficult test I’ll intend to analyze Turkey’s new hopes for European Union admittance, a quest lead by the newly empowered Justice Party. A quest that has been eternal for the Turkish people and that would try to end with the concept that an Islamic nation cannot mingle, function and prosper among non-Islamic partners. A quest that, now more than ever is standing on a defining point.

Before I begin with this analysis, I would like to point out that for the purpose of this paper “Islamic oriented” has a negative connotation because of European Union’s attitude...
