Turkey

Originally, I had picked the country of Algeria because the flag really stood out and made me think of what the symbols and colors of the flag might mean. Due to no information on the website that we did our research on, the country did not fall into the Middle East region. Since I liked the flag of Turkey with its moon-star symbol and bright orange color, I decided to learn more about it.
Turkey is known to have a Republican Parliamentary Democracy. The head of government is the prime minister, who represents the majority party or coalition in parliament. The president, as chief of state, is chosen by parliament for a seven-year term. All citizens over age 20 are entitled to vote. The official language of Turkey is Turkish. In addition, about 10 percent of the population speaks a different primary language, usually Kurdish or Arabic. Islam ceased to be the official state religion of Turkey in 1928.
