Skills are learned and often involve pre-planned movements, which are goal directed.

• Motor; Involve muscular system. Voluntary movement of muscles. Probably do with eyes
closed!
E.g. running/walking/writing

• Perceptual; Involves interpretation of stimuli. Individuals see same stimuli in different
ways. In sport, you use this skill to determine where and when to pass a ball.
E.g. See Picture handout

Specific Motor Ability assumes that different sports require different motor abilities. Each motor ability has little relationship to another although a number may be used together. This concept is generally held as true.
