Truancy

What is truancy? Truancy is an empty seat in a classroom, which costs the schools money every time that seat or any other seat is empty. Truancy is a major problem in schools these days and is also a criminal offense, which is prosecutable by law. Many articles have been written in the paper to help with the problem, but the problem has subsided very little, if any at all. There have also been programs set up by the school districts to crack down on truancy, but none have been as successful as hoped. Penalties for the young men or women can range in many ways as with the adults punishments. Absents that aren’t cleared can cost the schools big bucks over the course of one school year, and without that money the school may not be as successful as before. With less money in the school’s bank account, school may not be as pleasant as before and children may not want to go to school.
