Trivialities

Shostakovich was a 20th Century composer, who wrote three fantastic dances. The second dance is an ethereal waltz, and it is both graceful and mysterious, with unexpected harmonies creating tension. The Russian composer Tchaikovsky wrote several nocturnes. A nocturne is a ‘night piece’, and they often encompass what could be interpreted as the cold, melancholic mood of a winter night, and all the warmth and richness of a summer night.
